"Welcome to Gino's North, Chicago's Best Kept Secret, where you're always among friends."
Gino's North built its reputation on selecting and preparing quality ingredients, serving them at affordable prices, and creating a dining experience guests cherish and return to.
The site opened in 1940 as Snow Drop Cocktail Lounge, the vision of restaurateur Frank Meltiades Nichols. The custom-built woodwork, paneled walls, cozy booths, dramatic ceiling, and serpentine bar commissioned for that original lounge still shape the warm atmosphere guests enjoy today.
In the 1990s, the restaurant was renamed Gino's North and shifted from steak, chicken, and lobster fare to authentic Italian specialties. Over the years, longtime kitchen leadership and neighborhood loyalty helped turn customers into the extended family that defines the restaurant today.
Gino's North still honors Chicago pizza traditions with handcrafted thin crust pizzas, square-cut slices, house-made dough and sauce, and a menu rounded out by pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads, and a full bar with affordable wines.
That mix of history, atmosphere, and comfort food continues to make Gino's North a beloved Edgewater destination.
